LIVING IT UP!
The Living Room Salon and Art Gallery in Costa Mesa is an under-the-radar establishment that is one of the hippest places in The OC.
In other words you have to know about it, to know about it.
Co-owner Lacey Cammarata, otherwise known as the wax goddess of Orange County, transformed an old industrial building behind the Grant Boys on Newport Boulevard in Costa Mesa into a stylish and artsy salon where even men feel welcome.
The entrance looks like an urban loft and functions as a living room/art gallery with monthly art exhibits from Sarah Bain Gallery in Anaheim.
While you’re waiting for an appointment you won’t be reading about an exhausted Lindsay Lohan and the whereabouts of Tom Cruise's and Katie Holmes’ baby. Lacey only displays beautiful coffee table art books.
“I just love watching someone reading about Picasso,” said Lacey.
There are also luxury and chic gift items: Tom Ford and Roberto Cavalli sunglasses, Christine Costner’s handbags (Kevin’s wife and Lacey’s best friend) and vintage jewelry from Palm Springs.
Lacey is big on supporting OC vendors. Local lines include Baby Aloha apparel, Voluspa candles, and Vestal watches. The Living Room Salon offers 14 hair stations for cuts, color, as well as massages, facials, skin care treatments and, of course, incredible waxings.
As an added bonus, this Sunday from 6 to 10 p.m., the Living Room hosts the 3rd Annual Evening Extravaganza benefiting the Surfrider Foundation.
Celebrity guests will include Kevin Costner, Jillian Barberie, Jaime Pressly and Dean Cain. The event includes celebrity poker, a surfboard auction, music, fashion show by the soon-to-be-opening It OC boutique Goat; art exhibition from legendary surf artist Rick Rietveld; film screening for Globe’s new surf flick, “Secret Machine”; food, drinks and more. The cost is $40 per person at the door.
