A PRIME COOKBOOK
Now you can test never-before-published Morton's recipes and read legendary tales about the restaurant thanks to the release of "Morton's Steak Bible," co-authored by Klaus Fritsch, a founder of the dining franchise.
Tuesday, you can meet Fritsch at Morton's, The Steakhouse at South Coast Plaza Village from 6 to 8 p.m. For $30, you'll receive an autographed copy of the book, chat with a restaurant legend, and enjoy Morton's signature hors d'oeuvres.
The late Arnie Morton and Fritsch met in Chicago at the Playboy Club. Morton was Hugh Hefner's partner at the Playboy Club; and Fritsch was the executive chef. Together they combined talents to open Morton's, an upscale steakhouse in Chicago in 1978 that still employs the original butcher and buys its meats from the same purveyor.
While at Morton, check out its new Bar 1221, a relaxing place to meet for cocktails with a Bar Bites menu. The bar features appetizer specials from 4:30 to 6 p.m.; and from 9:30 to 11 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Appetizers available at the bar include a crab and artichoke dip with toasted French bread croutons, broiled sea scallops, Maine lobster cocktail, crab cakes and four petite filet mignon sandwiches.
Now serving lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Monday to Friday. The dinner menu is available from 2:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. Dinner is served from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. Saturdays, and 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Sundays.
