The cupcake craze lands in Orange County today with the opening of Sprinkles Cupcakes at Corona del Mar Plaza in Newport Beach.

A Beverly Hills staple on Little Santa Monica Boulevard, Sprinkles creates addicting cupcakes that are moist, fluffy and the new "it" dessert. Sprinkles cupcakes are decorated with creamy frosting, signature sugar designs or French chocolate sprinkles.

Small batches of cupcakes are baked throughout the day from pure ingredients that include sweet cream butter, pure Nielsen-Massey Madagascar Bourbon vanilla, and Callebaut chocolate. More than 20 flavors change daily. The assortment ranges from classics like red velvet, milk chocolate and vanilla, to modern choices like ginger lemon and chai latte.

Artfully decorated cupcakes are also packaged fashionably in pink-lined brown boxes. Sprinkles also sells lunchbox cupcake holders, beautiful gift boxes with brightly colored cupcake tray inserts, as well as T-shirts.

Co-owner and executive Pastry Chef Candace Nelson perfected her decadent cupcakes in her West Hollywood kitchen before opening Sprinkles Beverly Hills bakery last year. Avid fans from Orange County begged for a second store to open in The OC. That day has arrived. Enjoy.
