EAST COAST EDGE IN LAGUNA
The buzz on the newly opened Adele is that it's just what Laguna needed: an edgy but relaxed women's boutique.
"We wanted to bring a little of the East Coast boutique feel to Laguna Beach, the interior, the seasons, and the designers," say Adele owners Amy and Kris Johns.
The husband and wife team paired up to offer apparel like nothing else in the area. The Johns recently relocated from Brooklyn. Amy, a former stylist in New York, worked for magazines such as Vanity Fair and I-D. And Kris creates Adele's visuals and is also involved with Elephant, a new graphic design studio in Laguna Beach.
Adele’s line-up of emerging and established designers includes Rodebjer, House of Dagmar, Bruno Grizzo, Tony Cohen, Ashish n Soni, Cacharel, A.P.C. Reyes, Laura Seymour, Falls, Society for Rational Dress.
Adele carries eclectic accessories, including Tomoko Igarashi, pieces from Melissa Joy Manning, Zoe Chicco, Santin-Lerner, and local designer Gorjana. It also has Abas Leather wallets, handbags by Joanna Louca and an assortment of fragrances by Cb I Hate Perfume and Eccentric Molecules.
"My grandmother Adele was such a large part of why I always loved shopping in small boutiques,” Amy says. "Her taste and fashion choices were always so amazing and influential to me. I have always dreamed of owning a boutique that followed the same standards that she shopped by. That’s why we created Adele. To keep her memory alive."
Open 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday; 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.
