At Gyu-Kaku Japanese BBQ in Huntington Beach, you'll love a unique dining experience where you are the chef and the diner.
Grill pros (and novices) can cook their own meal at the table and have great fun doing it. Don't worry if cooking's not your thing, your server will give you easy instructions, and you'll quickly turn into an expert!
And Gyu-Kaku offers a special for Greer's OC readers through March. Just print out this Daily Dose and receive 10% off your bill Monday through Thursday (not to be combined with any other special offers or promotions, including happy hour).
Each table comes with its own circular grill (an imported Japanese BBQ brazier), where you can cook marinated meats, chicken, seafood and vegetables.
Amazingly, there's no smoke involved. The ingenious downdraft smokeless braziers pull the smoke down and back into the BBQ.
Menu items are a la carte style so that you can share. Choose from appetizers, salads, fried rice and noodles.
Favorite seafood choices include Chilean sea bass, garlic shrimp and ahi tuna. The marinated beef choices include 21-day aged boneless Black Angus short rib with tare sweet soy; 21-day aged beef tenderloin with ponzu citrus; and Harami sliced skirt steak with miso.
You can also choose from five selections of U.S. Kobe beef; and specialty cuts: gyu tan (sliced beef tongue), liver and mino intestine.
Gyu-Kaku (gew-kah-koo) offers a sophisticated ambience, romantic mood lighting and dark interior.
Save room for S'mores to grill, or traditional Japanese desserts: Japanese pancakes with sweet red bean paste; black sesame ice cream; or grilled mochi with Japanese syrup.
Open 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. Monday through Thursday; 5 p.m. to 12 a.m. Friday and Saturday; 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday. 7862 Warner Ave., #109, Huntington Beach. 714.842.8333.
For March, "Daily Dose of OC" subscribers have seven new special deals, ranging from a bargain on chocolates to specials on swimwear, skin care, hair styling, and tweens fashions.
