MORE HAMAMORI TO LOVE!
You're in for a visual and gourmet treat when you dine at the new Hamamori Restaurant-Lounge at South Coast Plaza.
We say it's one of the most beautiful Japanese restaurants in OC ... and the food created by renown sushi chef James Hamamori is divine.
The light and airy sophisticated setting with an undulating white ceiling, sculpted back wall, floor to ceiling windows, and dazzling hand-cut crystal chandeliers make us want to move on in.
Hamamori's namesake restaurant features tasting plates of contemporary fine Japanese cuisine and the traditional comfort foods of Kyoto. Hamamori collaborated with executive chef Takumi Murase, known for his Kaiseki style of cooking, previously with Megu in New York.
Enjoy appetizers, Hamamori signatures, sushi, sashimi and sushi gems and rolls. A sampling includes organic edamame soup; miso Caesar salad; albacore ceviche with ruby red grapefruit, halibut with truffle oil, ikura and karasumi, and exquisitely presented seared toro with foie gras pâté, osetra caviar and gold flakes.
You must try the delicious okaki coated jumbo asparagus sprinkled with yuzu sea salt; seafood chawanmushi with shark’s fin; and incredible Kurobuta pork belly kakuni. Other signatures include Tamari marinated black cod, seared madai in truffle-infused consommé; and braised Kobe beef cheeks with Japanese vegetables.
The lunch menu consists of small plates, lunch sets, sushi and sashimi platters and an ozen platter similar to a bento box. Lunch dishes range from $6 to $28.
