LET THE HI-TIMES ROLL
Orange County’s treasure for wines and spirits is Hi-Time Wine Cellars in Costa Mesa. It has one of the largest retail wine selection on the West Coast with an underground cellar that stores more than 10,000 wines. It carries rare wines, hard-to-find spirits and exotic liquors from all over the world. Beer afficionados can choose from more than 1,000 beers from 25 countries, and a keg room awaits partiers.
Hi-Time’s expert staff offers top-notch customer service and its wine and liquor buyers are some of the best in their field. If you want to taste wines stop by Hi-Time’s wine bar. This lively spot offers tastings and events Thursdays, Fridays (4:30 to 8:30 p.m.) and Saturdays (2 to 8:30 p.m.).
Cheese and wine expert Todd Johnston oversees the wine bar, and he’s the premier cheese buyer. Johnston offers a "wines for Thanksgiving" tasting Friday from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m. For $25, you can taste wines that will "do your Thanksgiving bird proud!" And on Saturday, taste a line-up of current Pinot Noir favorites from California and Oregon ($30). Johnston also offers popular cheese and wine pairing classes, the second Wednesday of each month.
