The Black Sheep Bistro in Old Towne Tustin is a gem for Mediterranean food. Chef and owner Rick Boufford and wife Diana go out of their way to provide a homey environment, delicious Spanish-French cuisine, and even a market for specialty meats, imported cheeses, cured Spanish sausages, sauces, confit of duck, olives, rare wines and more.
The Black Sheep is famous for its paella (considered one of the best in OC), prepared three ways and even special ordered days in advance by regulars in the know. (Paella can take an hour wait otherwise.) But the Black Sheep Bistro also entices because of its incredible specials served Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.
Tapas served Tuesdays cost $15 per person. The selection changes weekly but it can include four large lamb chops prepared with four different sauces; duck breast with berry sauce; and Borrego Borrego Borrego, a lamb stew baked in an onion topped with a grilled lamb loin, and surrounded by baby lamb chops.
On Wednesdays enjoy "hot pot" winter dinner specials for just $15 with salad. Dishes change weekly, and they're always cold weather favorites: cassoulet and hearty stews.
And Thursday is Mediterranean Tacos night, enjoy three tacos with a variety of fillings and salsas for $10 per person.
