Portraits Rescue Pets!

08.10.11

Dogma Pet Portraits in Costa Mesa just launched a giving back program by rescuing a pet every month. After co-owners Sylvaine and David Capron adopted a dog from Barks of Love, her presence in their lives turned into an eye-opening education on rescues and the number of dogs who desperately need to find homes or face euthanization.

They opened their studio to photograph rescued dogs, and help raise funds by donating artwork, as well as having a fundraiser benefiting the rescue of the month.

To thank the volunteers and supporters they are offering a free pet photo shoot at the studio and 20% off regular prices (10% of sales goes back to the rescue organization).

The chosen rescue for September will be Pet Place International month, and next adoption event will be on Sept. 18 with Pei People, the Shar-Pei rescue.

Dogma Pet Portraits is at 1729 Superior Ave. in Costa Mesa. 714.642.9021.

Yost Theater: Now Open!

08.08.11

After a great grand re-opening, The Yost Theater is now officially open for business and it looks amazing.

Fans flocked to see Southern California's Unwritten Law on Saturday night and many of the upcoming shows are already shown up.

The Yost Theater, the oldest historic theater in Orange County, was renovated by Dennis Lluy (founder of Koo's Arts Cafe) and Dave Leon. Their goal is to bring Yost to life again and have the distinction of not only being the oldest theater in OC, but become known as the one with the newest technology - just in time for the theater's 100th anniversary next year.

With so much history inside, be sure to grab tickets for one of the upcoming events at the Yost so you can check out the same theater where singer Ernest Ball (grandfather of the string master Ernie Ball) died, Sonny & Cher and Ike & Tina Turner performed and stand above the basement that served as a drunk tank and makeshift jail for the the drunks and criminals of historic Orange County.
