Labor Day Staycation in Mission Bay
08.22.22
Considering a staycation for the upcoming holiday weekend? Mission Bay is an iconic destination within San Diego, situated on 27 miles of sandy shoreline and offering 4,600 acres of aquatic adventure and budget-friendly luxury lodging at six different hotels and resorts.
With diverse outdoor activities (paddling, kayaking, biking), dining at more than a dozen restaurants, and four spas, Mission Bay offers endless family-friendly activities and access to the best of San Diego experiences, making it a perfect staycation destination.
Discover Mission Bay is a collection of esteemed resort properties and local attractions including Action Sports Rentals, Bahia Resort Hotel, Catamaran Resort Hotel and Spa, The Dana on Mission Bay, Hyatt Regency Mission Bay Spa and Marina, Paradise Point Resort, San Diego Mission Bay Resort, and SeaWorld San Diego.
In addition to ultimate relaxation at the spa, unique waterfront accommodations, and dining experiences at each property, a few standout seasonal activities that make for a special end to one’s summer include:
Sunset Luaus on the Bay – Friday, September 2 is the grand finale of the beloved summer series. A San Diego summer tradition, these luaus at The Catamaran Resort Hotel are a festive celebration of Polynesian food, music, and dances, perfect for family and friends and include a silk lei, all-you-can-eat buff, and of course, plenty of entertainment.
Bahia Belle Cruise – This turn-of-the-century, Mississippi-style boat departs from either the Bahia Resort Hotel or the Catamaran Resort Hotel and Spa and provides a 45-minute sightseeing cruise of Mission Bay. The 74-foot, 3-story sternwheeler boat offers an observation deck to view the beautiful sites of the 4,200-acre aquatic park. After 9 p.m., the Bahia Belle becomes Mission Bay’s ultimate party boat, and enjoy a DJ, cocktails, and live entertainment aboard the vintage sternwheeler.
Action Sports Rentals – San Diego’s premier spot for activity rentals offers a variety of kid-friendly land and water-based activities including kid’s bike rentals along Mission Bay’s 27-mile sandy shoreline, single and tandem surreys for the whole family to ride together, and body boarding to play in the ocean at nearby Mission Beach.
Carmel’s Bernardus Lodge & Spa Awarded Forbes 12-Stars
02.23.21
Marking its second consecutive year, California's Bernardus Lodge & Spa has been awarded a coveted 12 stars from Forbes Travel Guide. Raising the bar on luxury lodging, the 73-room resort set against the backdrop of 28 acres of sweet lavender and vines, received top industry honors with a four-star rating for the Lodge, The Spa at Bernardus and Lucia Restaurant & Bar, the property's signature dining venue under the helm of Chef Cal Stamenov.
Bernardus Lodge & Spa shares this elite award with only six California and 14 U.S. hotel properties.
It's currently offering two specials: The Body + Soul -- Treat yourself to a one-night getaway in a luxurious guest room and enjoy your choice of two pampering 50-minute spa treatments and a dinner for two at Lucia Restaurant. And, indulge yourself with the Bed and Breakfast special. Enjoy a luxurious guest room for two, as well as a full American breakfast for two in either Lucia or in the privacy of your own room.
Opened in 1999 in bucolic Carmel Valley, Bernardus Lodge & Spa epitomizes wine country luxury with its top drawer service protocols and hospitality standards. The property's ongoing evolution included a multi-million dollar transformation in 2015 and the debut of its new Villas & Suites a year later, including spacious 1050 sq., ft., and 2100 sq. ft., lifestyle accommodations ideally suited for reconnecting with extended family. Today's challenging guest ethos is met with heightened sensitivity and an all-encompassing experience designed to outpace expectations. As industry standards shift, Bernardus Lodge & Spa continues to reset the bar.
In addition to the lodge, Forbes four stars were awarded to the Spa at Bernardus, a spacious 5,300 sq. ft., facility offering cutting-edge treatments in an elegant poolside setting, and Lucia Restaurant & Bar with chef Cal Stamenov driving the stoves.
