The Newport Beach Film Festival has announced its Opening Night and Closing Night films. On Thursday, Oct. 13, the Festival will kick off its eight-day run with WEIRD: The Al Yankovic Story starring Daniel Radcliffe, Evan Rachel Wood, Rainn Wilson, Toby Huss, Julianne Nicholson, and Quinta Brunson. Fresh from the Toronto International Film Festival, where it generated huge buzz and won the People’s Choice Award in the Midnight Madness category, WEIRD: The Al Yankovic Story will screen at 7 p.m. at Edwards Big Newport (300 Newport Center Drive, Newport Beach).
The inaugural programming at the Orange County Museum of Art’s new home located on the Segerstrom Center for the Arts will include the highly anticipated return of the California Biennial, a diverse array of exhibitions, including a survey of artist Fred Eversley, a special project about landscape architect Peter Walker, a monumental outdoor sculpture by Sanford Biggers, and an exhibition drawn from OCMA’s expansive collection that marks the museum’s 60th anniversary and pays homage to the women who founded the museum.
The 2022 Pacific Airshow (September 30 – October 2) will feature a lineup of world-renowned military aviators and civilian performers. Now in its sixth year, the three-day spectacle is redefining the airshow experience, annually attracting 3 million live spectators, with millions more expected to view Hulu’s LIVE broadcast on Saturday, October 1.
