A philanthropist and visionary, the organization’s Founder and Executive Director, Sandy Segerstrom Daniels, has many years of business experience in her role as Managing Partner of C.J. Segerstrom & Sons and retail shopping center South Coast Plaza. She is highly committed to her cause.
Festival of Children Foundation’s History
Festival of Children Foundation was founded in 2002 by Sandy Segerstrom Daniels, who envisioned an organization that would build a coalition of youth serving organizations all with the same goal: to improve and enrich the lives of children in our communities, and develop programs and resources for this coalition. The Foundation partners with member children’s charities, corporations, institutions, foundations, and individuals to offer resources and programs to youth serving organizations. To date, Festival of Children Foundation serves over 470 member organizations in all 50 states and collectively represents over two million of America’s children.
1. If you had to begin a different career, what would you do?
Tour Bus Driver
2.What’s your most prized possession?
My sanity...while I still have it.
3. Favorite drink?
I'm big on water during the day and a nice glass of something white in the evening.
4. What are you cutting out because of the economy?
I live within my means, so nothing really. Maybe frivolous car trips.
5. Fantasy purchase?
A penthouse apartment in New York or Chicago.
6. What can’t you live without?
My family!
7. What’s next on your “to do” list?
Tap dancing lessons.
8. Biggest regret?
Not continuing to study piano. My mom was a concert pianist and I only learned enough to get in and out of music school.
9. Cause that you’re most interested/involved in?
Can I say, my own?
10. Your dream day in Orange County?
I'm so easy, I love doing errands with my sister.
11. Favorite place for breakfast?
My kitchen…in my robe…with a great cup of coffee and a Trader Joe’s scone!
12. What was the best day of your life?
There are three actually: The days I got to watch each one of my three grandkids being born.
13. Last concert that you went to?
Pacific Symphony Orchestra
14. Favorite vacation spot?
Maui
15. If you had to live somewhere else, where would you like to move?
Maui
16. Favorite books?
Cookbooks!
17. Favorite restaurants in Orange County?
Marche Moderne, Il Barone and Mastro’s Ocean Club.
18. Biggest accomplishment?
Getting September recognized as National Child Awareness Month.
19. What’s your biggest fear?
Being home alone and falling down the stairs.
